KGD Architecture announced that Olivia Haynie of Cornell University was awarded KGD Architecture’s Research Internship for 2020. This Research Internship of $5,000 was open to graduate students to work on their area of research along with the opportunity to work on real projects.
Olivia was selected from a field of research candidates whose applications were evaluated on the impact their work would have on the practice and profession of architecture. Olivia’s area of research will explore the agency of the occupant, the role of the future architect, and to what extent user participation plays a role in the future of housing design. She aims to create a guidebook to outline actionable ways to use our design skills to effect policy creation, political agency, and activism. This will focus on how we, as architects, can work not only to design space, but to contribute to the design of the society that produces, constrains, and directs those built works.
KGD Architecture is a design practice with architecture, planning and interiors with global reach. Our interns represent the top emerging talent from schools worldwide. Internships provide an immersive experience in a professional setting and can serve as a stepping-stone to a full-time position or career opportunity. Internships in each of our offices provide unique hands-on experience in real projects, working side-by-side with our design teams and clients.
